Free Search Engine Submission Tips

Tough Questions for Search Engine Submission Services

Tip #1 - You NEVER have to submit your site to the Free Search Engines.  That's right - Never.  Only human-reviewed directories require a site submission.  "Services" that offer repetitive submissions to free search engines are doing a major disservice to their uninformed clients.

Tip #2 - To get listed in the free search engines, you need links from other websites that are already there.  That's it.  There's absolutely no need to ever submit a site.

Tip #3 - If you DON'T have links from other sites, submissions are useless anyway.  You won't stay in the search engine index for long without them.

Tip #4 - Read Tip #1, 2, and 3 again. :-)

Not so difficult, huh?  You're finally "in" some of the free search engines.

So Now What?

Being listed on the free search engines is NOT enough.  Without high search engine placement, you're still invisible.  Your website needs Ethical SEO Optimization and effective copywriting to interest and convert your visitor into customers.

Tough Questions for Search Engine Submission "Services"

Be aware there are search engine submission and positioning services who prey upon the public's lack of knowledge about search engine placement and ranking.   Many simply withhold information about the risks involved with their website promotion methods.

If you must use a search engine submission service, ask these simple questions:

How many times will you submit my site to the search engines?

Our opinion: You can't HAMMER your site into the search engines. If you submit once, and it doesn't stick, something might be "wrong" with your site.  What you really need is links from related websites and directories - then you don't even have to submit.  The search engines will find you.

How many search engines will you submit my site to?

Our opinion:  There are less than 100 useful search engines, and about 10 worth submitting to.  Any number over 500 smells like Free For All link farms.  Ask for a list of those search engines with the daily search traffic they receive.

Do all your services conform to the Google Search (TM) Webmaster Guidelines?

Our opinionDon't break the rules for a Google Search (TM) listing.  Lose them, and at least half of your highly qualified traffic is history.  Read the Webmaster Guidelines.

Are you building high ranking pages that are not part of my site?  Doorway Pages?

Our opinion:  "Attraction" pages, bride pages, jump pages = Doorway pages.  It's Search Engine SPAM.  It's flooding the search engines with pages they'll find and delete.

Will I be the legal 100% owner of all domains or pages you use, buy, or create to promote my site?

Our opinion:  Avoid any service who will own any part of your website or any pages used to promote it.
